Words that keep the evidence in proportion

Capacity is what a system could provide under its operating conditions. Delivery is what reaches a user at the needed time. A production quota is an allowed quantity, while a storage target is a policy threshold. Neither term alone tells you the volume actually delivered or stored.

Capacity is what a system could provide under its operating conditions. Delivery is what reaches a user at the needed time. A production quota is an allowed quantity, while a storage target is a policy threshold. Neither term alone tells you the volume actually delivered or stored.

A projection estimates a possible future value. A commitment records an undertaking; a completed investment records money deployed under the relevant accounting definition. An agreement total, a visitor count and a sales total describe different things and should not be added together as one measure of success.

A story marker places a source event on a chart. A measurement window contains the original price observations needed to calculate a defined change. A nearby price move is an association; a causal claim requires additional evidence.

A prospective prediction is fixed before its outcome. Its entry, direction, target, deadline and review method are preserved. Uncalibrated means no validated probability is available. Unscored means the required outcome evidence or original terms are missing; it is not another word for wrong.
