Privacy Policy

Overview

This policy applies to the OnTheRice website, mobile app and connected services. It explains what information is collected, how it is collected, why it is used, who may process it, how long it is kept and the choices available to users.

Information you provide

OnTheRice may receive your name and email when you choose to sign in, plus profile choices, saved signals, watchlists, feedback, support messages, account-recovery details and other information you deliberately submit. You can explore public reports without creating an account.

Service and device information

The service records the page or feature used, time, website host, referring domain, broad device type, broad country and security or reliability events needed to operate and protect the service. OnTheRice does not use this information to build advertising profiles or sell personal information.

Analytics

OnTheRice uses first-party traffic measurement and Google Analytics to understand aggregate use, reliability and feature performance. Google Analytics may process browser, device, approximate-location and interaction information and may use first-party measurement identifiers. OnTheRice does not run advertising-network pixels or use analytics data for targeted advertising.

How information is used

Information is used to provide accounts and saved features, personalise private relevance, deliver requested alerts, process support and deletion requests, confirm access or membership, prevent fraud and abuse, measure reliability, improve the service and comply with law. Private feedback cannot change the public evidence record.

Service providers

OnTheRice uses service providers only for functions needed to run the service. These currently include OpenAI or ChatGPT for sign-in, Cloudflare and OpenAI Sites for hosting and security, Google Analytics for measurement, Stripe for web billing and payment-account management, and email delivery providers for messages a user requests. Each provider processes information under its own terms and must protect it consistently with applicable law and this policy.

Release alerts and email

Release alerts use the verified email supplied by ChatGPT only after a reader chooses to join. OnTheRice stores the selected signal and publication channels, consent time, unsubscribe state, canonical release alert, delivery state and provider receipt needed to prevent duplicate messages. Raw unsubscribe links are not stored. Alert records do not change public facts, signal order or publication history.

Payments

OnTheRice does not store full payment-card details. Stripe hosts web checkout and the web customer portal. OnTheRice stores the Stripe customer and subscription references, membership status, billing cycle, access period, cancellation state and compact payment-event receipts needed to provide and protect access. Purchases offered inside an Apple app, if any, are handled under Apple's in-app purchase rules and Apple's privacy terms.

Camera and photos

The camera or photo library is accessed only after a user starts a photo or scan action and grants the relevant device permission. It is not opened in the background and is not used for advertising, face identification or unrelated profiling. A user may deny or revoke permission in device settings and continue using features that do not require an image.

Retention

Anonymous traffic-recognition records and hourly traffic groups are kept for up to 90 days. Account, preference, support, payment, recovery and security records are kept only as long as needed to provide the service, protect users, settle transactions and meet legal duties. De-identified aggregate reports and records required by law may be retained longer.

Your choices

You may opt out of requested alerts, use browser or device privacy controls, deny optional permissions, correct profile information and request access, export, correction or deletion. Deleting an account removes the account and associated personal data unless a limited record must be retained for security, payment, dispute or legal reasons.

Security and international processing

Access controls, encrypted transport and service checks protect records. Providers may process information in Singapore or other countries where they operate. When information crosses borders, OnTheRice relies on the provider's contractual and legal safeguards.

Children

OnTheRice is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly create accounts for them. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided personal information, they should contact OnTheRice so it can be removed.
