OTR EMERGING DATA

Bitcoin — Coinbase BTC/USDT cash market

Start with the main idea: what may be changing, how the clues connect, and what remains uncertain.

OTR’s view is that renewed ETF demand and newly disclosed corporate holdings create a possible rebound setup even though price has not confirmed it yet. The useful tension is demand versus weak price response: substantial ETF creations occurred, but Bitcoin still struggled to hold above 83,000. Over one week, sustained demand could support a recovery; over the next few hours, the tape is much less convincing.

This is the weakest momentum setup in the selection. ETF demand was concentrated in one fund, leveraged longs already pay positive funding, and several disclosures describe purchases made earlier. I am not treating those earlier purchases as new buying happening now.

Evidence 1

US spot-Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately USD526.6 million of net inflows for the completed 19 October session. Farside corroborates USD526.7 million after rounding, led by IBIT’s USD665.2 million inflow.

An earlier negative total omitted IBIT and was incomplete. Published: 20 October, 15:05 SGT.

Evidence 2

Strive newly disclosed an additional 1,223 BTC bought for approximately USD100 million.

Published: 19 October, 21:45 SGT. Link 2. sourceURL:
Evidence 3 Strategy disclosed 267 BTC purchased for approximately USD22.1 million, averaging about USD82,900.

The underlying purchase period was 12–18 October. Its much larger preferred-stock repurchases also show that not all capital is being directed into Bitcoin.

Evidence 4 BlackRock filed for a proposed Bitcoin Managed Protect ETF.

It could broaden the ways investors obtain Bitcoin exposure, but a filing is not approval, a launch or guaranteed new inflows. Published: 20 October, 06:00 SGT.

Link 4. sourceURL:
Evidence 5 A fresh report said addresses holding 10–10,000 BTC increased their aggregate balances by 88,987 BTC over a month. This is NOT evidence of 88,987 BTC bought in the last day.

Exchange ownership, transfers and changes in cohort membership limit its usefulness. Published: 20 October, 10:40 SGT.

Measurement period: since 19 September. Link 5. sourceURL:
Evidence 6 The funding snapshot showed approximately +0.0089% per eight hours, with positive funding on 10 of 11 covered exchanges.

This is evidence against the view: long positioning already pays carry and can be vulnerable to liquidation. Observed: 20 October, 15:17 SGT.

That weakens immediate momentum.
