NVIDIA (NVDA): AI spending can rise while NVIDIA loses some control over the customer
Start with the main idea: what may be changing, how the clues connect, and what remains uncertain.
We see a possible split inside the AI trade. The important change is bargaining power. More AI use does not automatically mean every new workload must use the same supplier.
If a customer can move suitable work onto its own chip, it may gain more choice over what it buys and what it pays. That can affect investors' expectations about a supplier before a large change appears in revenue. We are treating this as a short market reaction, rather than a claim that NVIDIA's business is failing. Microsoft describes a production custom-chip programme and a larger rollout next year.
That is a real competitive development, but the timing prevents us from treating next year's capacity as today's lost sales.
That is evidence for a pullback inside an upward trend, rather than a confirmed trend reversal. The practical question is whether buyers quickly recover the old range.
We resolve against the locked reference price at the stated deadline, keep the opposing graph evidence visible, and record UNVERIFIABLE if the required trustworthy endpoint cannot be established. Missing price evidence is not a MISS.
We compared the newer OTR editions rather than counting their repeated pages as new proof. The wider deterioration in the latest OTR update is concentrated in crypto and cannot be assigned to NVIDIA without a measured link.
We also checked earlier OTR learning records.
The NVDA-conditioned learning record explicitly found no asset-matched failure cohort and no performed unseen validation. Our short market-reaction preference remains provisional; its small weight is not recalibrated from unrelated misses. We have made no numerical confidence adjustment from those examples. We checked the quote again and found no change from the earlier reference.
New searches still find the same Microsoft deployment and NVIDIA infrastructure announcements. Those plans do not prove lost NVIDIA orders. We also checked NVIDIA's own 12 October ecosystem announcement.
It still lists Microsoft among collaborating firms, so Maia cannot be treated as proof that NVIDIA has lost that customer. NVIDIA's earlier decline was smaller than the semiconductor ETF's decline by about 1.40 percentage points.

The key clues
See the main observations behind the idea, with their important qualifications.
- Microsoft’s own AI chips may give it more choice of suppliers. That could put short-term pressure on NVIDIA’s share price, even while AI demand grows.

- The stronger longer-term trend could bring buyers back.
What this means

This is a narrow evidence-weighted advantage, not a passed empirical trading gate.
Its source facts and prices still need independent checks.

Terms in simple English
Find plain meanings for the specialist terms used in this research.
Asset or investible
Something that can be bought or sold, such as a share, bond, fund, currency or cryptocurrency.
Share or equity
A share is a small ownership stake in a company. Its price can rise or fall.
Entry or reference price
A reference quote is not proof that a trade could be made at that price.
Horizon or deadline
The forecast time window. A saved deadline states when the outcome should be checked.
HIT and MISS
MISS means it did not meet those rules. These labels do not measure profit after trading costs.
Unverifiable
The outcome could not be confirmed with evidence matching the saved rules. It is not a confirmed win or loss.
Estimates whose accuracy has not been established by testing
A judgement that has not been shown to match real outcomes reliably. It is not a proven success rate.
Calibration
Checking whether stated chances match real results across many forecasts. An estimate can still be untested.
Revenue
Money earned from sales before subtracting costs.
Margin in context
A business margin compares revenue with stated costs; it may be a percentage or profit per unit, such as dollars per barrel. For a leveraged trade, margin means money required to support the position. Check the stated measure.
Valuation
What investors think an asset or company is worth, compared with measures such as sales, profit or cash flow.
Percentage point
The gap between two percentages. A rise from 4% to 5% is one percentage point, a 25% rise in the original rate.
ETF
An exchange-traded fund: a basket of investments traded on an exchange like a share.
Exchange or venue
The market or trading platform supplying a quote. NASDAQ and NYSE are US exchanges; SGX is Singapore Exchange. Prices can differ by venue.
Volatility
How widely and quickly prices move.
OHLCV
Price data showing opening, highest, lowest and closing prices, plus trading volume, for a stated period.
Repricing
Investors changing the price they will pay after new information or changed expectations.
Drawdown
A fall from a previous peak in price or investment value.
Check of how evidence affects the estimate
Updating an earlier belief with new evidence. A posterior is the updated estimate; a likelihood ratio compares how evidence fits outcomes. A estimate based on judgement may have no tested calculation.
Check of whether comparisons and shared evidence are suitable
Related calls may share evidence, so one story must not count as several independent reasons.
AI or machine learning
Software learning patterns from examples to perform tasks. Its output can be wrong.
Deployment
Making software or a system available for real use. Deployment alone does not prove it works well.
UTC and SGT
UTC is a world time standard. SGT is Singapore time, eight hours ahead of UTC.
Capacity
What a factory, network or system can produce or handle. Capacity differs from actual output and demand.
Median
The middle value when observations are put in order. Half lie at or below it and half at or above it; it is not a promised future result.
Interquartile range
The range containing the middle half of recorded values, between the 25th and 75th percentiles.
Percentile or empirical interval
A description of where recorded observations fall. For example, a central 90% interval contains the middle 90% of the sample, not a guaranteed range for the next move.
Heuristic or rule-based score
A score made using practical rules or a fixed formula.
Price bar, body and wick
A bar groups prices for a set period. Its body compares the opening and closing prices; its wicks show movement beyond them. It does not prove a trade at one exact instant.
